Post-doctoral programme for research on civil society

The programme has been initiated by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond’s (RJ) Sector Committee for Research on Civil Society. This effort aims at supporting younger researchers who have received their doctor’s degree in 2002 and later. The programme is being financed by RJ in cooperation with the Swedish Union of Tenants, Sensus Educational Association and the Swedish Association of Health Professionals, and consists of research grants during a period of at most, three years. The first call for applications was made in June 2007 with 1 October as the application deadline.

A total of 38 applications were received and reviewed by a Scandinavian panel of experts. On 13 December 2007, the board of directors determined, following the recommendations of this panel, to award research grants extending over three years to the following applicants:

Jens Sörensen, PhD, History Department, Lund University, is awarded SEK 2.7 million for the project Civilsamhället och den nya bistånds- och säkerhetspolitiken (Civil society and the New Politics of Aid and Security).
