Pro Futura is a post-doctoral programme for leading research providing particularly promising young researchers with an extended period of financing for independent research. The programme is a collaborative effort with SCAS (The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study), one of Europe’s leading institutes for advanced studies. The design of the Pro Futura programme has varied throughout the years. During some years, the programme has also included periods for research in international environments, organised by STINT. During other years, the researchers have been provided the possibility to apply for an additional period of three years, during which time the position is then expected to establish a tenure-track employment.
Through the Pro Futura programme, the selected researchers are provided with excellent opportunities to advance within their fields of research. At this point in time, a total of 18 young researchers have been granted the opportunity to participate in this post-doctoral programme.
This year, three researchers have been selected to participate in the Pro Futura programme:
For post-doctoral employment, within the field of premodern/early modern history, the history of ideas or church history, and to honour the former Chairperson of RJ, Eva Österberg, Peter Hallberg, born in 1969, has been selected. In 2003 he defended his doctor’s thesis in Political Science at Stockholm University, has written several articles and chapters in books, and has taken part in the composition of textbooks as well as other literature. He is planning to conduct research on the origin and ideology of social medicine.
For post-doctoral employment, within the field of global management and international organisations, and to honour the former Managing Director of Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, Dan Brändström, Magdalena Bexell, born in 1974, has been selected. In 2005 she defended her doctor’s thesis at the Department of Political Science, Lund University. She has written several articles and papers in anthologies. Her research plans relate to the strengths and weaknesses in transnational actors’ actions as regards global social responsibility.
Eva Erman, born in 1971, defended her doctor’s thesis in 2003 at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University. She has been a guest researcher at various foreign universities. She has published several articles and is the Editor in Chief for the international journal, Ethics & Global Politics. Future research plans include research into the manner in which the reliability of the operations of the UN has changed after the increased requirements regarding financial reporting.
