Marika Hedin is a new member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has elected Marika Hedin to the Class for humanities and for outstanding services to science.

Marika Hedin holds a PhD in history from Stockholm University. Her own research has focused on the history of Swedish liberalism, as well as the history of science and the history of the Nobel Prizes. She has also worked on disseminating knowledge through educational materials, lectures, and participation in radio and TV. Additionally, she has authored and edited several books. 

Marika Hedin has served the cause of science in the worlds of museums, the Nobel institutions, universities, and research funding. She has extensive knowledge of the Swedish research system and particular expertise in research dissemination.

She has been the director of the Vasa Museum and Gustavianum, Uppsala University's museum, as well as the public director of the Nobel Museum. In 2013, she was appointed honorary doctor of technology at Uppsala University. She is a member of the Royal Society for the Publication of Manuscripts Concerning Scandinavian History and has been awarded H.M. The King's Medal in gold of the 12th size with the ribbon of the Order of the Seraphim.

Currently, she is the CEO of the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, which works to promote humanities and social sciences.
