RJ supports research through annually offered support forms and targeted initiatives. Research applications are assessed and ranked by one or more of RJ’s review panels. RJ also allows external experts review applications.

The Foundation’s board determines awards of research grants.

The breadth of expertise among the researchers on the board and the review panels reflects the breadth of RJ’s activities. RJ’s board consists of 12 members: six members of parliament, four from academia, and two with experience from financial management. RJ has a unique position as a comprehensive network in the research community, with branches linking different research areas and linking research and other central sectors of society.
