Gösta Bagge's Diary 1939-1944
Gösta Bagge (1882-1951) was the leader of the Conservative party in Sweden 1935-1944. During the Second World War he was Minister of Education in the Coalition Cabinet, that governed Sweden in that period. In this position he kept a voluminous political diary. After important cabinet meetings he dictated an account to his secretary (who also was his daughter). The diary is the most important source to the internal debates of the Coalition Cabinet during the war. It consists of 1 088 type-written pages. The project is to edit the text for publication and to prepare an introductory essay. The diary will be published under the auspices of The Royal Society for the Publication of Primary Sources to the History of Scandinavia.
