Securing Source Material from Bankrupt IT Companies
The Centre for Business History is carrying out a project with the aim to gather archival information from failed companies within the IT-trade the last years, in particular Internet consultants. The project shall make further research possible through securing source material that is in danger of being lost because of the numerous failures in the trade. It will be executed by the Centre's Research Department, in close cooperation with the academic community and parties in bankruptcy proceedings. The characteristics of the companies are naturally vital for the choices of methods and principles of the project. Methods of Oral History will be used to gather the necessary information. Digital sources will also be of great importance. The project is centred on the fact that Stockholm is a Swedish centre for the IT-trade. It will however also be a starting-point for a larger initiative from all Swedish business archives to document the recent history of the IT-trade in general. Methods and priorities will be documented for the purpose of further regional activities.
