Svensk historisk bibliografi, SHB, (Swedish historical bibliography) is a register of Swedish historical literature in a broader sense (regardless of country of publication) and historical theory (published in Sweden).

The SHB:s reference group has strongly supported the proposal to digitise and OCR-process the SHB (1771-1976) and to make it available via internet. Bibliographical entries will be created in LIBRIS (The national library catalog system) and linked to the digitised bibliography. The entries will be searchable through LIBRIS or browsable directly through the digitised bibliography.

SHB is the oldest active bibliography within Swedish humanities and a goldmine for those who search for literature about Swedish history. Researchers of today are used to search for bibliographical information via internet and the traditional sources that gradually are going out of print, are about to be forgotten.

This fact underlines the need to digitise the content of the printed bibliography. The digitisation will both enhance the access and make the content of the SHB available to a wider range of users. Swedish historical sources will as a result of this project also be made more available to the international research community
