Review of the law, legal application and legal certainity for people who sought asylum in Sweden 2015-2017

Guest researcher position at the Swedish Institute in Athens The stay at the Swedish Institute in Athens is important since it enables me a period of unbroken research time. The research period will be devoted to analysing data that will be collected in 2020, within the framework of a one-year emergency project, "Collection of data for scientific studies of the law, legal application and legal certainty for people who sought asylum in Sweden between 2015–2017", funded by the research council Formas. Together with Professor Anna Lundberg, Linköping University, I recently received this funding to conduct this data collection. The project aims to collect data to secure empirical material for future scientific studies. Thus, the project does not include time for processing and analysing the collected material. A stay at the Swedish Institute at Athens in Spring 2021 would allow me to start analysing and writing on the material that will be collected in 2020. The stay in Athens would also give me an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with researchers, NGO’s and volunteers involved in the asylum reception in Greece, which opens for developing collaboration and joint future research projects. My research project is expected to contribute with knowledge, important for the Institutet, about todays refugee migration. Thus, the four months I am applying for correspond to a semester which allows concentrated and focused work on this urgent and specific research project.
