The second call for proposals within the Digarv programme has now opened on the Swedish Research Council's website. Below are suggestions and advice on how to apply and guidelines for collaboration with cultural heritage organisations.

The Swedish Research Council has been tasked by the Government to support data-driven research within the field of digitalization and the making of cultural heritage collections available for research purposes, now referred to as Digarv. The Digarv programme was first announced in 2018 in collaboration among three funding organisations: the Swedish Research Council, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and the Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities.

In autumn 2018, it was decided to award funding to nine research projects within the framework for the initiative. The Digarv programme is coordinated by Anna Dahlgren and Pelle Snickars, who both also have projects within the programme. The next call for proposals within the initiative opens in early 2020 on the Swedish Research Council's website.

During the autumn 2019, researchers and representatives for cultural heritage institutions were invited to a seminar to inform about the planned call for proposals and for wide-ranging discussions on how collaboration among research and the cultural heritage sector can best take place, what pitfalls exist and what should be considered. The seminar was recorded and can be viewed along with the presentations from the meeting. We recommend that researchers interested in applying review the material and that they contact early in the process the cultural institutions they are interested in collaborating with.
